It Makes no Difference to Me: Poem

It Makes no Difference to Me

Judge me or ridicule me.
It makes no difference to me.

I am free.
Free to experience shame.
Free to experience fear.
And free to experience pain.
But, it makes no difference to me

Ravelle | Poetry | It Makes no DIfference to Me

I’m free to speak.
Free to act.
And free to be something other than what the world wants me to be.

So, go ahead and look right through me.
It makes no difference to me

My heart is free.
Free to love you, and free to be me.

I know who I am beyond anything I feel
Beyond all the thoughts of right and wrong
Beyond the ideas of good and bad

I know who I am, I am free
And all that I fear, is me
So, how can it make any difference to me?

I am one with you,
and you are one with me
I love you because I love myself

In truth, I am empty of you and empty of me
I wash myself away and nothing troubles me
Because it makes no difference to me

Whether you love me or hate me
I am myself, with no one to be
It makes no difference to me

I am like the sound of dried leaves crunching beneath your feet,
Love me or avoid me,
It makes no difference to me.

I am like the thunder, rolling in the distance,
Embrace me or dread me,
It makes no difference to me.

I am like the crickets calling in the shrubs,
Enjoy my song or despise me,
It makes no difference to me.

I am a tree that innocently encroaches on your land,
Scold me or thank me for me shade,
It makes no difference to me.

I am whatever you see
So, when will you see?
When you look at me,
I am you, and you are me.

That is why it makes no difference to me.

  1. Wow this brings tears to my eyes. So beautifully stated Ravelle. It reminds me of another phrase that pops into my head when I find myself pulled into my ego which is β€œI don’t mind.” Thank you for sharing such powerful wisdom. I’m grateful to have you in my life! πŸ™πŸ’—
