Solace: Poem

Meditative Poetry: Solace

solace

I find solace in the
smell of fresh bread,
while listening to the
ticking toaster oven
and gazing at the
overcast winter sky

a few remaining leaves,
that didn’t partake
in the autumn fall,
seem to shudder
on nearly bare branches
in the cool winter breeze.

as I inhale,
the noise around me dissolves
and I feel contained,
welcomed into stillness
and embraced
by warm eyelids
that pull me into
a gentle world within.

I touch down
into the silence
of my being
and notice myself sigh
as my forehead relaxes.

the turmoil in my stomach
now settles
and I find myself
resting inside myself.
