Inherent Peace – Mindfulness – Poetry – Beloved

I dedicate this poem to the light that is within all of us. Gratitude to all the beloved Buddhas who have pointed the way back to peace. May all beings experience the joy and bliss of Nirvana.

Beloved,

I remember when I first heard your voice,
Your words thundered in my heart,
And I thought I knew love.
I remember when your guidance first pierced my mind,
Bolts of insights awakened my soul,
And I thought I knew bliss.

I remember when you were everything to me,
Rivers of joy rained down my cheeks,
And I thought I knew peace.

Then, I left you to be on my own
And I felt great loss
I thought I knew,
But my arrogance fooled me.

Here in the darkness, cold and afraid
My heart called me inward,
And I was absorbed in silence,

Still and undisturbed,
I found you,
And your love bloomed in my heart.
You have always been here with me,
For where can I go, that you are not?
Your light always shines on me.

You are the subtle wind
That kisses my cheek on a warm summer day,
You are the fierce waterfall crashing down with a loud roar,
Above and below,
You are the night sky and you are the sand beneath my toes.

You are in the silence and in the sound,
In the light and in the shadows,
Life, death, joy, sorrow,
You are everywhere
And I am never apart from you.
For where can I go, that you are not?
