Choosing Peace in a World of Darkness

Introduction: Choosing Peace in a World of Darkness

When you look out into the world and see poverty, greed, hatred, and violence, you may feel a fire burning in you. Moreover, choosing peace may seem impossible.

On one hand, you may be ready to start a revolution and on the other hand, your sādhanā (spiritual practice) appears to oppose this force. Yet, the fire burning in you is a divine one.

So, don’t let hopelessness or anger take over. Use it, and let it drive you deep within so you can remove all the barriers in the way of your freedom.

Falling in Love with Silence and Stillness

How Quietude and Stillness Heals: Three Anchors to Stay Grounded

Our world is colorful, alluring, and dynamic, while silence and stillness are viewed as unwanted, something to evade, fill, and change.

Life is often busy and fast-paced; almost every moment is overflowing with noise and movement. And our minds carry the same rapid pace and volume.

For most people, it is all they know. As a result, few people come to know the peace and joy of their inmost being and ultimately fall in love with silence and stillness.

Discover the Power of Mindfulness

What is Mindfulness

What exactly is mindfulness and why should we care about it? Well, we often make up our minds about something within a very short period of time. Influencers, bloggers, writers, advertisers, salespeople, almost everyone who has ever tried to engage or convince anyone of anything, knows that they must have a compelling hook. This is the extent of mine and if you are still reading, great, but at any point that can change because of a single deciding factor: a thought.

Breaking the Chains of Desire

The Link Between Desire and Suffering

If we picture “desire” as a tree and “clinging” as a rope, suffering arises when we tie one end of the rope around ourselves and the other end to the tree. The tree and the rope can exist, but it is our identification with them that binds us. Both desire and clinging arise in our consciousness and we can be aware of them because we are separate from them.

We do not need to tie ourselves to either but because we believe we can obtain something of value, we continue clinging even when it causes us pain.
